Statistics and Transparency
TransparencyRuns, response times, mutual aid, inspections, training and records activity, from the 2025 Annual Report and the Community Risk Assessment and Standards of Cover.
About the Statistics and Transparency
Accreditation requires the department to measure its own performance against published benchmarks, and to report it. The figures below come from the 2025 Department of Public Safety Annual Report and the department's 2025 Community Risk Assessment and Standards of Cover (CRA/SOC).
Response times in the performance tables are 90th percentile figures: nine out of ten calls were answered at least that fast. The benchmarks follow the Center for Public Safety Excellence's self-assessment model.
Benchmarks
For 90 percent of emergencies the department's benchmarks are a turnout time of 90 seconds for EMS calls and 120 seconds for all others, a travel time of 7 minutes 30 seconds, arrival of the first unit within 10 minutes 30 seconds of the call being created, and arrival of the full Effective Response Force within 11 minutes.
For a medium-risk fire, the Effective Response Force is 13 personnel.
How the Department Is Funded
The fire department is funded through the township's Public Safety Special Assessment District, which pays for police, fire and dispatch operations. In the Department of Public Safety budget, fire accounts for 28 percent, police 61 percent, dispatch 7 percent and administration 4 percent. The Township Treasurer's office has received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting every year since 2019.
