About the Stations and Apparatus

Fire Station 1 on 22 Mile Road

The Chesterfield Township Fire Department operates from two fire stations, numbered 1 and 3, and a berth on the Salt River for Marine 1.

Apparatus is cross-manned: the crew on duty takes whichever vehicle suits the call rather than each vehicle having its own dedicated crew, and Computer-Aided Dispatch response plans determine which apparatus goes to each type of emergency.

As development moves north through the township, the department is using its risk and response data to decide where future stations may be needed.

Marine 1

Marine 1 is the Department of Public Safety's multi-use boat, moored on the Salt River from March 1 until December 1, weather permitting, and used by both fire and police personnel. When an emergency is reported and the boat is not staffed, fire personnel respond from the stations and put it on the water within minutes.
